Dreams Waking Within the Dream Making a List Some things seem to happen only in dreams. So far, I seem to be able to fly only in dreams. So, I write: If I'm flying, I'm dreaming. Some people, myself included, have dreams about trying to run, but find they can't move very fast. You? If so, write it down. Get a note pad and begin your own list. In time, you'll find this list growing longer as you come to be more familiar with your own dream world. These are clues you can use to recognize the dream as such. And that brings us to the second step... One night you're going to say, "Hey, I'm dreaming!" within a dream. Here's your first opportunity to conduct your own experiment (or just have fun) and it'll help immensely if you've thought about this ahead of time. I wondered how real the dream really was in comparison to this "waking" world and my simple objective was to touch, taste, smell... you know, to test my senses. Fairly primitive and highly subjective, but hey, it worked. Before you turn out the light each night, review your own list and objective. If you put a pen by that pad and begin a dream journal, you'll find that you begin to remember more of your dreams. It's only a matter of time before you have that first (or another) lucid dream.
